Vinted fees for US sellers: $0 selling fee, buyer-paid Vinted fee, shipping and Bump costs

Vinted charges sellers $0 in the US. There is no listing fee and no selling fee, so a sale that closes puts the full item price in your Vinted Wallet. The money comes from the other side of the sale: buyers pay a Vinted fee at checkout, which Vinted says is usually 5% + $0.70, plus shipping. The only cost a seller can choose to pay is an optional Bump that pushes a listing higher in search.

That is the short answer on Vinted fees. The rest of this guide covers the details that change your real profit: what the fee looks like on a $10, $50 and $100 item, how it compares with Poshmark, eBay and Depop on the same sale, who pays shipping, what a Bump costs, how payouts work, and how Vinted makes money when sellers pay nothing. Every figure comes from Vinted's own pages and results, or from the official pages of the other platforms, read on October 22, 2026.

Fees and rules change. The numbers below match Vinted's price list as last updated on October 8, 2026 and its help center at the time of writing. Always check the order summary on the platform before you commit to a price.

Vinted seller fees: what you pay in the US

Vinted's help center is direct about it: "There are no fees for uploading your items or selling them on Vinted." Once a sale is successfully closed, you receive the full selling price in your Vinted Wallet. The How it works page says the same thing in plain words: "There are no selling fees on Vinted. You keep 100% of what you earn."

In practice that means:

  • No listing fee. You can list as many items as you like.
  • No commission or final value fee. Nothing is taken from the item price when it sells.
  • No withdrawal fee listed. Vinted's help page on withdrawing earnings describes a minimum of $0.10 and a delay of up to 5 business days, and lists no charge for moving money to your bank account.
  • Shipping is paid by the buyer. You get a prepaid label, so postage does not come out of your earnings.

What you can pay for is optional: a Bump (covered below). If you have used Poshmark or eBay, the difference is the first thing you notice: nothing is deducted from the sale price.

The Vinted fee (formerly the Buyer Protection fee)

Buyers pay a mandatory platform fee at checkout whenever they use the "Buy now" button. Vinted used to call it the Buyer Protection fee. Its help center now calls it the Vinted fee, and says explicitly that this "is not a new or additional fee" and that the way it is calculated has not changed. Because the rename is rolling out gradually, you may still see the old name in some places.

The official description has three parts worth knowing:

  • It is calculated from item characteristics, order value, and order type (a single item versus a bundle).
  • It typically includes a percentage of the item or bundle price plus a fixed amount, "usually 5% + $0.70".
  • It is added to the order total and shown in the price breakdown, with any applicable sales tax included in what the buyer sees at checkout.

Using the usual rate, here is what the fee looks like on common price points. The figures are my arithmetic on Vinted's published "usually 5% + $0.70", before shipping and tax, and the real amount for a specific order can differ.

Item price$10
Vinted fee (usual rate)$1.20
Buyer pays before shipping$11.20
Fee as a share of the item price12.0%
Item price$25
Vinted fee (usual rate)$1.95
Buyer pays before shipping$26.95
Fee as a share of the item price7.8%
Item price$50
Vinted fee (usual rate)$3.20
Buyer pays before shipping$53.20
Fee as a share of the item price6.4%
Item price$100
Vinted fee (usual rate)$5.70
Buyer pays before shipping$105.70
Fee as a share of the item price5.7%

Why a buyer-paid fee still matters to sellers

You never see this fee come out of your payout, but your buyer sees it. On a $10 item the fixed $0.70 makes the fee feel like a 12% surcharge, while on a $100 item it is under 6%. Two practical consequences:

  • Low-priced items feel more expensive than they are. A buyer comparing a $10 listing with a $10 listing elsewhere sees $11.20 plus shipping on Vinted. That is one reason bundling several small items is popular: the buyer pays a single order, and Vinted says the fee depends on the order type, so check the order summary of a bundle before promising a price.
  • Shipping is the bigger part of the total for cheap items. See the shipping section below.

What the buyer gets for the fee

Vinted says the fee covers connecting buyers and sellers, a safer buying and selling experience, tools to manage transactions, member support, and applying its refund policy if an item is lost, damaged or significantly not as described. The refund policy applies to purchases made with the "Buy now" button: buyers have 2 calendar days after the order should have been delivered to report an issue. A payment made outside Vinted's system is not covered.

What you keep on a $50 sale: Vinted vs Poshmark, eBay and Depop

Fee talk is abstract until it hits a real price. Here is the same item sold on four platforms, using each platform's own published seller fees. The numbers ignore shipping, sales tax, ads and promoted listings, and use the standard rate for most categories.

PlatformVinted
Seller fee (official)$0 selling fee. Buyer pays the Vinted fee
You keep on a $10 item$10.00
You keep on a $50 item$50.00
PlatformPoshmark
Seller fee (official)$2.95 flat under $15, 20% from $15 up
You keep on a $10 item$7.05
You keep on a $50 item$40.00
PlatformeBay
Seller fee (official)13.6% (most categories) plus $0.30 per order up to $10, $0.40 above
You keep on a $10 item$8.34
You keep on a $50 item$42.80
PlatformDepop
Seller fee (official)No selling fee, payment processing fee 3.3% + $0.45
You keep on a $10 item$9.22
You keep on a $50 item$47.90

Sources: Vinted help, the Seller Fees section of Poshmark's policies, eBay's final value fee page, and Depop's seller fee page. Fee schedules differ by category on eBay (handbags, athletic shoes and other categories have their own rates), and Depop also charges buyers a marketplace fee, so treat the table as the standard case. eBay and Depop calculate their fees on the total amount of the sale, which includes shipping and sales tax, so real fees are higher than in this shipping-free table.

If you want the full side-by-side, including shipping, payouts and audiences, read Vinted vs Poshmark and Vinted vs Depop.

An example: what you keep after packing costs

Say a jacket you no longer wear sells for $50. Your own cost of packing it is $1.50 for a poly mailer and packing tape:

  • Vinted: $50.00 - $1.50 = $48.50 kept
  • eBay: $42.80 - $1.50 = $41.30 kept (13.6% + $0.40 = $7.20 in fees)
  • Poshmark: $40.00 - $1.50 = $38.50 kept ($10.00 in fees)

The platform fee is the biggest difference between the three outcomes, because it is the only line that changes from one platform to the next: that is an extra $10.00 between Vinted and Poshmark on the same sale. It also assumes the item sells at $50 on each platform, and that is not guaranteed: audiences and sell-through differ by platform. What you keep per sale and sell-through together decide where an item belongs. The free Vinted fee calculator is the quickest way to run this kind of comparison for any price. Profit and margin on purchased stock are concepts for platforms that allow reselling, such as eBay, or for Vinted Pro where it is available in Europe; on a US Vinted standard account you sell items you own.

Shipping: who pays on Vinted

Shipping costs on Vinted are paid by the buyer. According to Vinted's shipping prices page, updated October 9, 2026:

  • New buyers get free shipping on their first three purchases, applied automatically at checkout.
  • New sellers have free shipping on their first three sales, because the buyer covers shipping and Vinted waives it to help sellers get started.
  • Orders to a Vinted Go shop with the shipping partner SpeedX ship for free, where that network is available.
  • After that, prices vary with carrier availability, package size, distance and order value, and are always shown at checkout before the buyer confirms.
  • When an item sells, you receive a prepaid shipping label, then pack the item and use the drop-off option that suits you.

Returns work differently: under the refund policy, buyers pay for return shipping, although a seller may choose to provide a Vinted-generated return label. For the full breakdown of carriers, sizes and prices, see our guide to Vinted shipping.

Bumps and other paid extras

A Bump is the one thing a Vinted seller can pay for in the US. Vinted's help center says a Bump makes an item show higher in newsfeeds and search results for either 3 or 7 consecutive days, or until the item sells.

The details that matter:

  • The cost depends on the item price and the Bump duration. Vinted does not publish one flat price. Its price list says the fee varies with the chosen duration, the item price and the territorial scope (local or international), and the exact amount is shown at the time of payment.
  • You can lower the price during a Bump, not raise it. If you lower the price, the Bump cost stays the same.
  • One Bump per item at a time.
  • Showcase is not available in the US. Vinted's help page for the Showcase feature (formerly Closet Spotlight) says it is "currently unavailable for members in the US."

Is a Bump worth it? The honest answer is that it depends on your margin on that item. A fee that looks small on a $100 jacket can be a large share of what a $12 top sells for. The only way to know is to compare what you paid for Bumps with the sales that followed. When Vinteer opens in the US, it will track those costs alongside your sales so what you see is after Bumps, not before. You can join the Vinteer US waitlist to be notified.

Payouts: when you get paid and what it costs

After a sale, the payment shows as pending in your Vinted Wallet. The order is completed when the buyer taps "Everything is OK," or 2 days after delivery if the buyer does nothing and reports no issue. You then get the money within 2 days, moved from "Pending balance" to "Available balance."

From there you can:

  • Withdraw to a US bank account. Vinted says withdrawals can take up to 5 business days to arrive, and it supports USD withdrawals to accounts using an account and routing number. You cannot withdraw in other currencies or to accounts outside the US.
  • Spend it on Vinted. Available balance is used automatically for your next purchase unless you withdraw it.

Other rules from the help center: the minimum withdrawal is $0.10, the same bank account cannot be used to withdraw from different Vinted accounts, and the payment provider may require an identity check, which pauses withdrawals until you complete it. Vinted's pages describe no fee for withdrawing, but check the withdrawal screen yourself if you plan to move large amounts.

International sales between the US and UK

The same Vinted fee applies on international orders as on domestic ones. Vinted's US and UK international sales page adds that, during this launch stage, it covers the customs tax on selected orders shipped to the US, and that transactions between the two countries are currently limited to some US states. Items must weigh 4.4 lbs or less, and the page lists categories that cannot be sold across the border, such as cosmetics, jewelry and watches, and children's products and toys. Earnings from international sales are added to your Wallet in your local currency.

How does Vinted make money with no selling fees?

It is the question behind a lot of searches, and the answer is that Vinted moved the fee to the buyer's side instead of removing it.

  • The Vinted fee. Every order paid with "Buy now" carries it, usually 5% plus $0.70. Vinted describes it as covering the cost of running the platform, support and refunds.
  • Paid Bumps. Sellers who want more visibility pay per item, with the price set by Vinted.
  • Other services. Vinted offers a Pro service for professional sellers in several European countries (Vinted says it is not currently available in the US), and it accepts advertising requests from brands on its advertising page.

On scale: Vinted's 2025 results, published by Vinted Group on April 9, 2026, show €1.1 billion in revenue on €10.8 billion in gross merchandise value, with a net profit of €62 million. Dividing one by the other gives revenue of roughly 10% of goods sold across all markets. That is my arithmetic, not a US fee rate, and it includes Europe, where most of the business is today. The point is that a buyer-paid fee plus a share of optional services is enough to run a profitable marketplace without taking a cut from sellers.

Taxes on Vinted sales

General information, not tax advice.

As of October 22, 2026, the IRS says third party settlement organizations are not required to file Form 1099-K unless the gross amount of reportable payment transactions exceeds $20,000 and the number of transactions exceeds 200 (the One, Big, Beautiful Bill restored this threshold retroactively). It also says you must report all income you received during the year, regardless of whether you receive a Form 1099-K, and that the loss on the sale of a personal item is not deductible. The loss rule applies to personal items; resale for profit is treated differently, so ask a tax professional.

Keeping track of fees across Vinted and eBay

Zero selling fees make Vinted easy to understand, but what you really keep still depends on supplies, Bumps and the cost of shipping when you cover it. Once you also sell on eBay or elsewhere, fees stop being a single number. Vinteer is a back office for Vinted and eBay sellers, and when it opens in the US it will import your sales and purchases so you can track your sales, fees and stock across both in one place. It is not open yet: you can join the waitlist and keep 20% off for life when it launches.

FAQ

Conclusion

On Vinted in the US, sellers pay $0 to sell, buyers pay the Vinted fee (usually 5% + $0.70) and shipping, and the only optional seller cost is a Bump whose price depends on the item and duration. On a $50 sale that is $50.00 in your pocket before your own costs, against $40.00 on Poshmark, $42.80 on eBay and $47.90 on Depop under their standard fees. What decides what you keep from there is your own costs and how fast it sells.
