Vinted vs Poshmark for Sellers in 2026: Fees, Shipping, Payouts, and Which to Use
Vinted vs Poshmark for US sellers in 2026: fees on real prices, shipping, payouts, buyer protection and tools, plus when it makes sense to sell on both.

Vinted vs Poshmark comes down to one number: what you keep per sale. Vinted charges sellers nothing, so you keep 100% of your sale price. Poshmark takes a flat $2.95 on sales under $15 and 20% on sales of $15 or more. In exchange, Poshmark brings a longer US track record and a set of social and selling tools (Reposh, live Posh Shows, closet insights). Vinted is the better pick if margin and a simple listing flow matter most. Poshmark earns its fee if you rely on its audience and tools. Many sellers run both, as long as they track every sale carefully. Here is the comparison on real prices, with the shipping, payout and protection rules that change what actually lands in your account.

Fees: what you actually keep on a sale
This is where the two platforms differ most. Vinted states on its How it works page that "there are no selling fees on Vinted. You keep 100% of what you earn." The platform earns money from a buyer-side Vinted fee, which its price list describes as typically 5% + $0.70, added at checkout. Sellers only pay if they choose to promote a listing with a paid Bump (3 or 7 days, priced by item price and reach).
Poshmark's seller fee policy reads: "For sales under $15, the fee is a flat rate of $2.95. For sales $15 and above, the fee is 20% and you keep 80%." Listing is free, and there is no monthly cost.
Here is what that means on typical prices (your payout before shipping, which the buyer covers on both platforms):
| Sale price | Poshmark fee | You keep on Poshmark | You keep on Vinted | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $10 | $2.95 | $7.05 | $10.00 | $2.95 |
| $14 | $2.95 | $11.05 | $14.00 | $2.95 |
| $15 | $3.00 | $12.00 | $15.00 | $3.00 |
| $25 | $5.00 | $20.00 | $25.00 | $5.00 |
| $50 | $10.00 | $40.00 | $50.00 | $10.00 |
| $100 | $20.00 | $80.00 | $100.00 | $20.00 |
Two things stand out. First, the flat fee hurts cheap items most: a $10 sale loses 29.5% to Poshmark's fee. Second, the $15 line creates an oddity. A $14 item nets $11.05 on Poshmark, and the same item priced at $15 nets $12.00, so a one-dollar increase pays you 95 cents more. Pricing just above $15 is almost always better than just below.
The buyer fee is part of the picture
Vinted's zero seller fee does not make the platform free for buyers. On a $50 item, a typical Vinted fee of 5% + $0.70 is $3.20, so the buyer pays $53.20 plus shipping. On Poshmark the buyer pays $50 plus a flat $6.49 shipping. Vinted's shipping varies with carrier, package size, distance and order value, and new buyers and new sellers get free shipping on their first three purchases or sales, according to Vinted's shipping prices page. That is why you should compare the all-in price a buyer sees, not only your payout. For the full buyer-side breakdown, see our guide to Vinted fees, or run your own numbers in the free Vinted fee calculator.
A worked example
You sell a jacket you no longer wear for $50. On Vinted you keep $50.00. On Poshmark you keep $40.00.
On a $100 item, the gap is $20: you keep $100.00 on Vinted and $80.00 on Poshmark. That is the 20% Poshmark charges for its audience and tools, and whether it is worth it depends on how fast each platform sells your specific items.
Shipping: both are buyer-paid, with different rules
On both platforms the buyer pays for shipping and the seller gets a prepaid label, so you never front postage on a standard order.
Poshmark uses a flat rate. Since September 12, 2025, Poshmark's blog states the price dropped from $8.27 to $6.49 through USPS Ground Advantage, with one label covering anything up to 5 pounds. Its shipping policy says the standard label covers up to 5 lbs including packaging, that upgraded labels for 5 to 15 lbs must be bought by the seller, and that USPS Priority Mail packaging can no longer be used. The seller must ship within seven days.
Vinted prices shipping by package size and by the buyer's and seller's locations. Per Vinted's how shipping works page, buyers choose the provider at checkout, sellers choose which options to offer, and you have 5 business days to ship before the order is canceled automatically. For USPS you can drop off at a post office with a digital QR label or schedule a home pick-up, and Vinted says it may compensate you up to $100 for a lost or damaged package (USPS shipping help). More detail is in our Vinted shipping guide.
For sellers, the practical difference is predictability. Poshmark's single flat rate is easy to explain to buyers, but anything near or above the 5 lb label limit needs an upgraded label that you pay for. Vinted's price depends on size and distance, so the buyer sees a different total on each order.
Payouts and buyer protection
Vinted says you receive your payment within 2 days after an order is completed, moving from "Pending balance" to "Available balance". You can spend that balance on Vinted or withdraw it to your bank, and withdrawals can take up to 5 business days (Selling basics). If a buyer has a problem, they press "I have an issue" within 2 days of Vinted notifying them the item should have arrived, and the order is covered for lost, damaged or significantly not as described items.
Poshmark holds payment until the buyer accepts the order, or releases it automatically if no return case is opened within 3 days of delivery. Buyers have 72 hours after delivery to open a case under Posh Protect for undisclosed damage, wrong or missing items, items not as described, or inauthentic items. Fit and "changed my mind" are not covered. Poshmark's getting-started page says you can withdraw earnings at any time for free (Get started).
Both systems protect the buyer first, so photograph your item, pack it well and keep proof of shipping on every order. Neither one rewards sloppy listings.
Audience, tools and how listings get sold
Poshmark is the established fashion resale marketplace in the US, with social features built into the selling flow. Its fee policy lists Reposh, live Posh Shows, My Closet Insights, Bulk Actions, My Shoppers and free authentication on orders of $500 and up. Poshmark's footer lists women, men, kids, home, electronics and pets, and its policy says items outside its supported categories may not be offered.
Vinted lists women, men, designer, kids, home, electronics, books and media, hobbies and collectibles, and sports in its catalog. Its tools are simpler: Bumps to push a listing, bundle discounts you set once for your whole closet, and offers that buyers can send on single items or bundles (bundles). Vinted is newer to US sellers than Poshmark, so you have less community history to lean on when you start.
We found no official sell-through figures for either platform, so any claim like "Poshmark sells faster" is an impression, not data. A better test is your own: list the same ten comparable items on each for a few weeks and compare days to sale and net payout. Our guide on how Vinted works for sellers covers the listing basics if you are starting there.
When to choose each (and when to sell on both)
Choose Vinted if:
- You sell lower-priced items, where a $2.95 or 20% fee eats too much margin.
- You want the simplest possible flow: photos, price, prepaid label, no per-sale fee.
- You want to keep every dollar of what a pre-loved item sells for.
Choose Poshmark if:
- You sell higher-priced brand-name items where 20% is acceptable for audience and tools.
- You want social tools such as Reposh and live selling.
- You sell authenticated pieces and can use the free authentication on orders of $500 and up.
One rule to keep in mind: Vinted does not allow buying items to resell them at a profit on a standard account in the US (Vinted Help: Commercial selling). If your plan involves sourcing stock, check each platform's own seller rules first.
Use both if you have a deep inventory and want a second chance at each piece. The one real risk is selling the same item twice. Pull the listing from one platform the moment it sells on the other, and never keep the same item active on both without a stock record. If you are weighing a third platform, our Vinted vs Depop comparison covers the Depop side of the three-way question.
Track real profit across platforms
Fees are only one line of the true cost. What you really keep is what is left after fees, packing supplies, boosts and any returns. When Vinteer opens in the US, it will help Vinted and eBay sellers track sales, fees and stock in one place, so you can see which items actually earn their listing slot.
