Shipping is not free on every Vinted order in the US. That is a narrower offer than many posts and search results suggest. A few weeks earlier the same page promised free shipping on the first three purchases and sales and listed prices starting at $0.99, and both details are gone from the live page. A few details are worth reading closely:

• "First" means one. Vinted does not say how it decides who counts as a "new" buyer or seller, so do not assume an older account or a second order qualifies. If the discount applies to your order, you will see it applied at checkout before you pay.
• The first-sale offer is really about your buyer. Vinted's wording is that "buyers cover the shipping costs. So to help new sellers get started, shipping is free for their first sale." The page does not spell out whose shipping charge is waived, but because buyers are the ones who pay it, the natural reading is that the buyer of a new seller's first item pays $0 for shipping on it.

• It applies to US orders only. The page says prices "only apply to items shipped within the US. International shipping is excluded."
• Free shipping does not remove the Vinted fee. A buyer still pays the Vinted fee on a "Buy now" order. Vinted's price list (last updated October 8, 2026) says it is usually 5% + $0.70. On a $20 item with free shipping, that is $1.70 on top, so the buyer pays $21.70 before any sales tax, and the seller receives $20.00.

How long is Vinted free shipping?

Vinted does not publish an end date for any of its free-shipping offers. What it publishes is the sentence "Free shipping while offer lasts" in the notes of the shipping prices page, which means the offers can end at any time without notice.

The page itself shows how quickly things move. We could read two dated versions of it:

The archived copy is a Wayback Machine capture of Vinted's own page. The point is that this is a page that changes: between the September 25 and October 30, 2026 versions, free shipping went from three orders to one and the dollar prices disappeared, and Vinted gave no reason.

The practical answer to "how long is Vinted free shipping" is therefore this: your first purchase or first sale is free for as long as the page says so, which could be a long time or a short one. Search results are full of posts about "99 cent shipping on Vinted." Here is what Vinted's own page said in the September 25, 2026 version, quoted from the archived copy:

• SpeedX home delivery: "$0.49 for a small package, $0.99 for a medium package, and $1.49 for a large package."
• USPS and FedEx home delivery: "starts from $0.99 for small and medium packages, and $3.19 for a large package."
• A caveat on both: "Shipping prices may vary depending on carrier availability, package size, distance and order value."

So even then, $0.99 was never a flat rate for all orders: for USPS and FedEx it was a "starts from" price, and for SpeedX home delivery it was the price of a medium package only, with $0.49 for a small one and $1.49 for a large one. The live page, updated October 30, 2026, lists none of these dollar figures. It says only that prices "vary" and are shown at checkout. Vinted does not say whether the old starting prices still apply, so a post claiming that every order ships for 99 cents is not backed by anything Vinted publishes today.

If you see a low price on a listing, that is real for that order, and checkout is where it is confirmed. Just do not count on the same price for another item, another carrier or another week.

Is Vinted shipping free for sellers?

For a seller, shipping is not free so much as never your cost. Vinted's help page on how shipping works says that "buyers pay for shipping and choose their desired shipping provider at checkout," and that sellers "receive pre-paid labels to ship your items each time you make a sale." The shipping prices page adds that when an item sells, "you'll receive a prepaid shipping label like usual," and that sellers "keep 100% of your earnings," because "there are zero selling fees on Vinted. Sellers get the full amount from the sale."

That settles a worry that appears often in social posts, that free shipping is taken out of the seller's payout. Nothing on Vinted's pages says this. A free-shipping order and a paid-shipping order pay the seller the same amount: the item price.

What a free-shipping offer does change for a seller:

• Your buyer pays less in total, which Vinted says makes a purchase more likely: "When buyers can save on shipping, they're more likely to make a purchase."

• Returns are the exception. Vinted's refund policy says buyers pay for return shipping, though "sellers may choose to cover return shipping costs by providing a Vinted-generated label." If a refund is issued after a canceled order, the refund page says it covers "the item's price, shipping cost, and the Vinted fee," so a buyer who got free shipping simply gets $0 back for that line.

Why is Vinted shipping so cheap, or even free?

Here is what Vinted says, and nothing more: shipping is covered by the buyer, and lowering it helps sales. In its own words, "when buyers can save on shipping, they're more likely to make a purchase - benefiting both buyers and sellers," and the free first sale exists "to help new sellers get started."

What Vinted does not publish is how it funds a free label, what it pays carriers, or whether it earns anything on shipping when a buyer pays. Posts that claim to know the margin on a label are guessing. 1. Check the page date. Open Vinted's shipping prices page and read the "Updated" line at the bottom. If it is later than October 30, 2026, offers may have changed since this guide was written.
2. Read the checkout, not a post. Vinted says shipping prices "will always be shown at checkout before confirming a purchase." That screen is the only price that counts.
