Who Owns Vinted? Shareholders, Founders and the UK Company (2026)
Who owns Vinted? No single owner: funds, institutions, founders and staff hold shares. See the Companies House shareholder list, the UK entities and the 2026 valuation.

No single person or company owns Vinted. It is a privately held group whose shares are spread across venture funds, large investors, its two founders, current and former staff. Vinted's own accounts say it has no controlling party, because no single shareholder holds a majority. The business is run from Vilnius in Lithuania, but the company at the very top of the group, Vinted Limited, is registered in England and Wales, and the company you agree to the terms with as a UK member is Vinted Platform Limited in London.
That last point is what makes the UK answer different from the one you read elsewhere. Because the group's top company is a UK company, Companies House publishes things about Vinted that most countries do not: who sits on the board, how many shares exist and, in the filing we read, a list of the shareholders themselves. This guide walks up the ownership chain from your account to those shareholders, using Vinted's own pages and the public register, and says plainly where the record stops.

How Vinted is owned, from your UK account up to the shareholders
Reading the Terms, the Companies House pages and the group accounts side by side, the chain looks like this:
- You have an account with Vinted Platform Limited, 5 New Street Square, London, company number 15015234. The UK Terms say so in their first section, and the Vinted Pro Terms name the same company.
- Vinted Platform Limited's own accounts say its immediate parent is Vinted, UAB, a Lithuanian company based in Vilnius. The group accounts call Vinted, UAB the "principal entity / headquarters".
- The same accounts say the ultimate parent is Vinted Limited, a company incorporated in the United Kingdom (company number 07874344, same address in London). It prepares the consolidated accounts for the whole group, which Companies House publishes.
- Vinted Limited is owned by its shareholders, and the directors state that no single one of them controls it.
Companies House shows the same thing from the other direction: the only "person with significant control" listed for Vinted Platform Limited is Vinted Limited, with 75% or more of the shares and voting rights. Vinted Limited, in turn, has no person with significant control at all. Its register carries the statement that the company "knows or has reasonable cause to believe that there is no registrable person or registrable relevant legal entity in relation to the company".
That is not a loophole. Under the UK rules, a person with significant control is someone who holds more than 25% of the shares or of the voting rights, among other tests (see GOV.UK's guidance). On our calculation (next section), no holder on Vinted's shareholder list is above that line, even when funds with the same manager's name are added together.
Who are Vinted's shareholders?
Vinted's About page says its mission is "backed by leading venture capital firms from both sides of the Atlantic", including Accel, Burda Principal Investments, EQT Growth, Insight Partners, Lightspeed Venture Partners and Sprints. It gives no percentages. Companies House does give numbers, because a UK company has to file a confirmation statement listing its shareholders and the shares they hold.
We read Vinted Limited's latest confirmation statement (made up to 15 April 2026, filed on 23 April 2026). At that date there were 97,973,555 issued shares. The percentages below are Vinteer's own calculation from that list, as at 15 April 2026 and before the April 2026 share sale described further down. Companies House publishes share counts, not percentages, and Vinted publishes neither. Adding together the funds that share a manager's name, the largest holders were:
| Shareholder group (as named in the filing) | Shares | Share of issued shares (Vinteer calculation) |
|---|---|---|
| Insight Partners funds | 19,900,087 | about 20.3% |
| Sprints funds | 18,366,374 | about 18.7% |
| Accel funds | 15,801,167 | about 16.1% |
| EQT (EQT Growth Vogue JV S.a r.l.) | 8,282,863 | about 8.5% |
| Lightspeed Opportunity Fund | 6,496,308 | about 6.6% |
| Diamond Hands Inv, UAB (a Lithuanian company; its owner is not stated) | 4,728,268 | about 4.8% |
| TPG (TPG Tech Adjacencies II) | 3,399,819 | about 3.5% |
| Sofina Invest S.A. | 3,260,082 | about 3.3% |
How to read this table:
- It is a count of shares, not of money. The filing says every class of share carries full voting and dividend rights, so these percentages are a fair guide to votes. But six of the eight classes (A1, B, C, C1, E and F, about 53% of the total) carry priority capital distribution rights when the company is sold or wound up, and the ordinary shares (about 37%) rank behind them. A percentage of shares is therefore not the same as a percentage of the value.
- The grouping is ours, and so is the arithmetic. Each fund is a separate legal holder on the register (Insight alone appears under more than a dozen fund names). We added together funds whose names show the same manager. Vinted does not publish such a grouping.
- It is a snapshot from before the April 2026 sale. The statement is dated 15 April 2026, twelve days before Vinted announced its secondary share sale. Vinted says EQT increased its shareholding in that sale and that Teachers' Venture Growth, Schroders Capital, funds managed by BlackRock, Lombard Odier Investment Managers and Pinegrove Opportunity Partners joined, with Baillie Gifford among the existing investors that increased their positions. None of the new names appear in the 15 April list, as you would expect. The next confirmation statement is due by 29 April 2027.
- Options are not included. The register counts issued shares only. Vinted's accounts describe a share option plan open to employees, and those options are separate.
The biggest group is therefore the Insight funds at roughly one share in five. That fits the directors' statement that there is no single majority shareholder.
What was the April 2026 share sale?
On 27 April 2026 Vinted announced a secondary share transaction of €880 million at an equity valuation of €8 billion, led by EQT, Schroders Capital and Teachers' Venture Growth, the late-stage venture platform of Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan. Secondary means existing shareholders and employees sold shares to new buyers. Vinted said it was "not raising any new primary capital in this transaction", that the company "has been cash flow positive for several years", and that the deal gave liquidity to existing shareholders and employees. The sale was, in its words, "significantly oversubscribed".
For ownership, the effect is a longer and more institutional shareholder list. Vinted describes the new investors as "institutional, long-term investors that can hold across private and public markets". That describes the type of investor. It is not a listing announcement (see the IPO section below).
Vinted's careers page gives the earlier reference points: a €128 million Series E round in 2019 at a valuation of over $1 billion, which made it Lithuania's first unicorn, and a €340 million secondary share sale in 2024 at a valuation of €5 billion. Vinted states these in euros, and so do we.
Who founded Vinted, and do the founders still own shares?
Vinted was founded in 2008 in Lithuania by Milda Mitkutė and Justas Janauskas. Vinted's About page tells it this way: Milda "was moving but had too many clothes to take with her", and Justas "offered help and built a website to give away her clothes to friends".
Vinted does not publish the founders' stakes, but the Companies House list does show their names. In the 15 April 2026 confirmation statement, Justas Janauskas held 4,882,630 ordinary shares and Milda Mitkutė held 2,752,659 (about 5.0% and 2.8% of issued shares on our calculation, before the April 2026 sale). The filing shows only what is registered in their own names. It cannot show shares held through other vehicles, or options, and it says nothing about what the shares are worth or whether either founder sold any in April 2026.
What is Milda Mitkutė's net worth?
We found no reliable figure, and neither Vinted nor Companies House publishes one. Companies House shows how many shares are registered in her name, not their value, and no price per ordinary share is public. If a website gives a precise net worth for either founder, treat it as an estimate and check what it is built on. The same goes for "Vinted net worth": the closest official figures are the valuation above and the cash position below.
Who runs Vinted? CEO and board
Vinted's About page lists Thomas Plantenga as CEO and Adam Jay as CEO of Vinted Marketplace, the business behind the app and website, alongside the two cofounders. The group has a shipping business and a payments business next to the marketplace.
Companies House shows how that looks on the UK side. Thomas Plantenga is the only director of Vinted Platform Limited, and one of the directors of Vinted Limited. Justas Janauskas stepped down from the Vinted Limited board on 16 December 2025, according to the filing and the 2025 accounts. The register lists eight current directors of Vinted Limited, and we have not tried to say who represents whom, because it does not say.
Where is Vinted based, and is Vinted a UK company?
Vinted's group headquarters are in Vilnius, Lithuania. The careers page says the headquarters "coordinates operations across our three business units", and lists offices in Vilnius, Kaunas, Amsterdam, Berlin, Hamburg and Paris, with over 2,200 people. The 2025 accounts give an average of 2,215 employees across the group.
So is Vinted a UK company? Partly, on paper, and not in the way you might think. The top company of the group is UK-registered, and the company that runs the marketplace for UK members is a UK company. But the group is run from Lithuania, and its principal operating entity is Vinted, UAB in Vilnius. The UK companies we found on the register are:
| Company | Number | Incorporated | Role according to the filings |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vinted Limited | 07874344 | 7 December 2011 (called Friendly Fashion Limited until 18 February 2014) | Ultimate parent of the group; files the group accounts |
| Vinted Platform Limited | 15015234 | 20 July 2023 | Marketplace services; the company in the UK Terms and in the Pro Terms |
| Vinted (UK) Limited | 14685110 | 23 February 2023 | Headquarter, administrative and customer support services (group accounts) |
| Vinted Pay Limited | 16265098 | 20 February 2025 | Payment services; the UK Terms describe it as an electronic money institution regulated by the FCA |
Vinted Platform Limited's own 2025 accounts show revenue of £4.32 million and no employees other than the director. Its accounts say it acts as an agent when providing marketplace services and recognises revenue net, so that figure is not the value of what UK members buy and sell. For the group as a whole, see how Vinted makes money.
What the UK entity means for you in practice: the UK Terms say they are "governed by the laws of England and Wales", and that if you live in Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring claims against Vinted in the courts of the country you live in. They also say Vinted is a hosting provider that does not buy or sell items and is not a party to transactions between members. Sellers on Vinted Pro sign separate Pro Terms with the same company (more in our Vinted Pro guide).
When did Vinted start in the UK?
Vinted's careers page lists it under 2014: "Launched in the UK." Its timeline starts with Lithuania in 2008 and Germany in 2009. Vinted does not give a UK member count on any page we read, so we do not quote one.
The group accounts do say how much the UK matters. In the directors' going-concern assessment, the stress test assumes an 80% revenue drop in "2 biggest markets (France and United Kingdom)". That is Vinted's own wording, and it puts the UK among its two largest markets.
How much is Vinted worth, and how is it doing?
Vinted's valuation is €8 billion in equity (27 April 2026). Its 2025 results, announced on 9 April 2026, are:
| 2025 figure | Amount | Change on 2024 |
|---|---|---|
| Goods sold (GMV) | €10.8 billion | up 47% |
| Revenue | €1.1 billion | up 38% |
| Net profit | €62 million | down 19% |
| Adjusted EBITDA | €151 million | down 5% |
Vinted says profit was lower because it invested in Germany, new categories, shipping and its payments wallet. The consolidated accounts at Companies House give the same picture in more detail (revenue of €1,120 million, net profit of €62.3 million) and show about €540 million of cash and liquid investments at the end of 2025, of which only about €7 million was restricted. They also show no dividend recommended for 2025.
Is Vinted going public? IPO and stock
Vinted has not announced an IPO, and it is not listed on any stock exchange. The only official wording that touches the subject is the April 2026 line about investors who "can hold across private and public markets", which describes who bought in, not a plan to list. We found no date, exchange or price on Vinted's newsroom. Treat anything more specific as speculation. If you are asking about "Vinted stock", there is no listed share price to look up.
What ownership means for you as a UK seller
Probably less than the headlines suggest. Your costs are set by Vinted's price list and your terms are with Vinted Platform Limited, not with a fund. Vinted's About page says "0% selling fees" for sellers, and the Terms say the Vinted fee is paid by buyers. Who holds shares in the parent does not change either. What does matter: Vinted reports a profit, says it is not raising primary capital, and has no controlling shareholder. Fees and rules can still change, so check the Vinted fees guide and the price list from time to time, and read is Vinted legit if you are weighing it up as a place to sell.
Whatever the platform does, you still need your own record of what each sale earned once postage, packaging and the price you paid are counted. FAQ
Conclusion
Vinted is a privately held group, run from Vilnius, with a UK company at the top of its structure and a UK company, Vinted Platform Limited, as your contract partner. Its shareholders are a long list of funds and institutions, led by Insight Partners and Sprints funds at roughly one share in five each and Accel funds at about one in six, plus the two founders at about 5.0% and 2.8% (Vinteer's calculation from the 15 April 2026 list, before the April sale). It was valued at €8 billion in April 2026, it has announced no listing, and its own accounts say it has no controlling party. For a UK seller, the ownership chain is worth knowing, but your day-to-day result depends far more on fees, postage and your own numbers.
