eBay fee calculator. What do you actually keep?
Private sellers in the UK pay no selling fees on eBay. Business sellers pay a percentage of the total sale plus a per-order fee and a 0.35% regulatory fee: £7.14 on a £50.00 item of clothing with £5.00 postage, where the 11.9% rate applies to the £55.00 total. The calculator leaves out listing fees past your free allocation, optional listing upgrades, the international fee, eBay Shop subscriptions, dispute fees and currency conversion charges. Your eBay seller account is the final word.
eBay's business fees page says "All fees displayed on this page are exclusive of VAT". The calculator shows the fees the same way, excluding VAT, and does not add any; your eBay invoice shows what applies to you. General information, not tax advice.

Open the Vinted fee calculatorHow eBay selling fees work in the UK
Figures from eBay UK's own fees pages, read on 7 November 2026. The business fees page says "Last updated on 5 November, 2026".
Private sellers: no selling fees
If you are a UK-based private seller, you pay no final value fee and no regulatory operating fee when your items sell, in every category except Cars, Motorcycles & Vehicles. You get 300 free listings a month (400 with an eBay Shop subscription), then 35p per extra listing. Optional listing upgrades and the international fee still apply when you use them.
Business sellers: a percentage of the total sale plus a per-order fee
The final value fee is a variable percentage of the total amount of the sale, which includes the item price, postage and any applicable taxes, plus a per-order fee. The percentage depends on the category. In clothes, shoes and accessories it is 11.9%: £11.90 on a £100.00 sale with no postage.
Per-order fee: £0.30 or £0.40
The per-order fee is £0.30 for orders of £10.00 or less and £0.40 for orders over £10.00. It is added to every category in the table below and is not reduced by the Top Rated discount. eBay reduces it to £0.10 on orders of £10.00 or less for listings in Home, Furniture & DIY categories created on or after 19 April 2022, and for listings in selected Collectables categories created on or after 1 February 2022. The calculator applies £0.10 to the Home, Furniture & DIY rows. eBay does not list which Collectables categories qualify, so the calculator keeps £0.30 there: some Collectables listings pay £0.10.
Regulatory operating fee: 0.35%
When a business seller's item sells, eBay also charges a regulatory operating fee of 0.35%, calculated on the total amount of the sale. Private sellers in the UK do not pay it.
Postage counts
Postage you charge the buyer is part of the total sale, so it raises the percentage fees. A £5.00 postage charge on a £50.00 clothes item adds £0.60 to the final value fee.
Extra fees for sellers below standard
A business seller whose performance level is Below Standard on the 20th of a month pays an additional 6 percentage points on top of the final value fee on sales in the following calendar month. A Very high rate of "Item not as described" requests adds 4 percentage points. After four or more consecutive months the extra points become 7 and 5: choose the "4+ months" options in the calculator. The calculator applies the extra points to the total sale and adds them up if both apply; eBay's page does not say whether one replaces the other.
Top Rated: 10% off the variable fee
Top Rated sellers get a 10% discount on final value fees for Premium Service listings. It applies to the variable percentage part of the final value fee, not to the per-order fee: £1.19 off on a £100.00 clothes sale. The calculator assumes your listing qualifies, and also leaves the regulatory fee and any extra points undiscounted.
Promoted Listings: a rate you choose
Promoted Listings Standard charges a percentage of the total sale amount, only when the promoted item sells within 30 days of a click on your ad. Enter the ad rate you chose. Promoted Listings is available to Above Standard and Top Rated sellers, so the calculator takes no ad rate from a Below Standard seller. Campaigns with a flat upfront fee are not modelled.
Business fees are shown without VAT
eBay's business fees page says "All fees displayed on this page are exclusive of VAT". The calculator shows business fees the same way and adds no VAT; your eBay invoice shows what applies to you. The Buyer Protection fee on private sales is the buyer's: eBay says it is inclusive of UK VAT at 20% and already included in the item price the buyer sees. General information, not tax advice.
What this calculator leaves out
Cars, motorcycles and vehicles, NFTs, holidays and travel, tents and a few other categories have their own rows or fees. The same goes for eBay Shop subscribers, optional listing upgrades, the international fee, dispute fees and currency conversion charges: see eBay's own pages.
Final value fee rates by category (business sellers)
The percentage depends on the category and, in some of them, on the size of the sale. Every row also pays the per-order fee and the 0.35% regulatory fee. Read on 7 November 2026.
