Vinted Pro UK: Who Must Sign Up, How It Works and What It Costs (2026)
Everything about Vinted Pro in the UK: who has to register, who can, how to sign up, what it costs, how a Pro account differs from a standard one, and what you cannot sell.

Vinted Pro is Vinted's free business account in the UK, and it is compulsory if you sell on Vinted to make a profit. Sole traders, charities and non-profits, and UK companies can register. A Pro account adds a "Pro" tag, a 14-day return right for buyers, a 14-day wait before your payment is released, and the legal duties of a professional seller. It costs nothing to join or to list. This guide covers who has to sign up, who is allowed to, the steps, what changes day to day, and what even a Pro seller cannot sell.
Vinteer is not affiliated with Vinted
This guide summarises Vinted's UK help pages, Catalogue Rules, Terms and Conditions (version of 8 October 2026) and Vinted Pro Terms and Conditions (version of 5 October 2026), as read on 7 November 2026. Vinted can change its rules at any time, so check the live pages before you rely on a detail. Where tax comes up: General information, not tax advice.
Do I have to sign up for Vinted Pro?
You have to if any of these is true. Vinted's help article on commercial selling says: "If you have a legal status as a business, act on behalf of one, or sell on Vinted to make a profit, you need to sign up as a Pro seller." Its Catalogue Rules add that a standard account is for private, non-commercial use only: you cannot use it to list items you have specifically bought or sourced to resell, to earn a regular income through reselling, or to run a reselling business, "even if you own a legally registered business".
The test is purpose, not a number. Vinted publishes no threshold of sales or turnover. Its Pro page says only that if you want to sell "a high volume of items on Vinted (more than just clearing out your closet!)", you need to sign up as a professional seller, and the Catalogue Rules target sourcing items to resell and earning a regular income from reselling. Vinted does not publish a line between a big clear-out and a business.
Vinted can also come to you. Its Pro guide says it can ask you to create a Pro account if it has information showing you meet the criteria, and can "block your access to Vinted" if you do not register while you meet them. The guide adds that declaring yourself as a professional is a legal matter under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, and that failing to do so "can result in sanctions".
How do I avoid becoming a Pro seller on Vinted?
The answer is the rule, not a trick: there is no legitimate way round it, and we will not suggest one. You sign up as Pro if you have a legal status as a business, act on behalf of one, or sell to make a profit, which includes buying or sourcing items to resell. Vinted's own wording is that accounts which do not comply can be restricted and, after a warning, permanently banned. If you only pass on things you own and no longer want, you are a private seller, but Vinted publishes no volume limit for that and its Pro page says a high volume of items needs Pro. Our guide on being a Vinted reseller in the UK covers where that line sits.
Who can register for Vinted Pro in the UK?
Vinted's registration article says you can become a Pro seller if you are a sole trader (entrepreneur), a charity, or a registered company, and lists the UK among the countries where this works. The Pro page says "Sole traders, non-profit organisations, and companies".
What Vinted asks for depends on who you are:
| You are | Details Vinted asks for |
|---|---|
| A sole trader | National Insurance number, VAT number (if your business has one), business representative details, business address |
| A charity or registered company | Business representative details, registered business name, business address, Tax Identification Number, Business Registration Number |
Everyone also completes Vinted's Know Your Customer (KYC) and Know Your Business (KYB) checks with the documents it requests. The Pro Terms add the legal representative's identity details and ID copy, bank account details, and an email address and phone number (disposable or masked emails are excluded). Opening the Vinted Wallet asks a sole trader for proof of registration and an ID document, and organisations and companies for more.
Three limits are worth knowing before you start:
- One Pro account only. The Pro Terms allow a single Pro account per seller. You may also keep one standard account, but they need different email addresses and phone numbers and must be clearly separate.
- You must be a professional. The Pro Terms say only a professional seller can create a Pro account.
- VAT registration is not listed as a condition. The help article asks sole traders for a VAT number only "if your business has one".
How to sign up to Vinted Pro, step by step
Vinted describes two routes in its help article on registering as a Pro seller.
- New to Vinted? Start from the Vinted Pro page and sign up there.
- Already on Vinted? You can convert your current account to Vinted Pro. If you would rather keep your standard profile, log out and sign up as a Pro seller using a different email address and phone number.
- Enter your business details (the table above), then your profile details such as display name and contact details.
- Agree to withdraw your earnings. If your account holds money, you agree to withdraw all of it from your Vinted Balance, and Vinted creates a new Balance for the Pro account. The withdrawal "will appear in your bank account within 5 business days".
- Complete KYC/KYB. Upload the documents Vinted requests.
- Add your policies. Vinted adds the "Pro" badge next to your name on your profile and item pages. You then add any additional policies of your own in your policies settings, and other members see them.
One restriction catches people out: you cannot convert a standard account while you have ongoing orders. Vinted says to wait until all orders are completed and your balance is withdrawn, and that a new Pro account "will remain unusable" until those requirements are met.
Vinted's help pages do not say what happens to your existing listings and sales history when you convert, so do not assume either way. If that matters, ask Vinted support before you convert, or register a separate Pro account with a different email address and phone number.
After registration you can change some business details yourself, such as your VAT number. Others, including your Tax Identification Number, cannot be edited and need a request to Vinted.
Is Vinted Pro free? Fees for Pro sellers
Yes. The Pro page says "Vinted Pro is entirely free" and that you can list as many second-hand items as you like at no cost. The Pro Terms confirm that the Vinted fee is "a mandatory platform fee, payable by buyers", and that payouts from your Vinted Wallet to your bank carry no transfer fees.
So what does cost money?
- The buyer pays the Vinted fee and the postage. Vinted publishes the fee only as "usually 3% to 8% + £0.3 to £0.8", varying with item characteristics, order value and whether it is a single item or a bundle (price list last updated 8 October 2026). It is not deducted from your sale. See Vinted fees in the UK.
- Optional boosts. Bumps and Showcase are paid extras with no separate Pro schedule in the price list. Prices appear at checkout.
- The Vinted fee on your own purchases. If you source second-hand items on Vinted as a Pro seller, the fee is part of your cost price. The Vinted fee calculator shows what a purchase or sale works out to.
Vinted's own invoices to you cover its services (shipping labels, the buyer protection fee, visibility services), which you may use for tax records. Your real costs are the ones outside Vinted: the stock, packaging, your time, and any tax or accountancy.

What changes when you sell as a Pro
You wait 14 days to be paid
On a standard sale, the buyer has 2 days after delivery to complete the order or raise an issue. On a Pro sale, the buyer has 14 calendar days from delivery, and Vinted says you cannot complete the order or get paid sooner "because it would interfere with the buyer's right of withdrawal".
Here is what that means for cash flow. Say you sell a £30 item and it is delivered 3 days after the order. A standard seller could see the order complete about 2 days after delivery. A Pro seller sees it complete about 14 days after delivery, so the £30 sits as pending balance for about 17 days from the sale, then moves to available balance within 2 days of the order completing. At about £500 of sales a week, roughly £1,200 to £1,350 is waiting at any moment. If you recycle sales into new stock, plan around that gap.
Buyers can return almost anything
A consumer buying from a Pro seller has the right to withdraw "without giving any reason". They have 14 days from the day after delivery to ask, and a further 14 days to send the item back. They usually pay for return shipping unless your policy says otherwise, but you choose who pays. Once a request is made you have 2 days to accept the return or refund the buyer while they keep the item, and 2 days to confirm the returned item is in the expected condition. Exceptions include items made to the buyer's specification, opened sealed hygiene items, and opened sealed media or software. Statutory rights for faulty goods also apply: a refund within 30 days, in most cases a full refund within six months if the goods cannot be repaired or replaced, and possibly some money back within six years if they do not last a reasonable time.
You owe buyers specific information
You provide a detailed description and price (including VAT if you are VAT registered) on the item page, and your name, address, phone number and email on your profile and in your additional policies, plus your trade registration number and VAT number where relevant. You also say how buyers contact you about defects and how you handle complaints. Vinted supplies the standard terms of sale, payment and delivery information, and the right-of-withdrawal wording. Together with Vinted's terms, your policies form the contract with the buyer, and unclear policies are read in the way most favourable to the consumer.
Postage and payment go through Vinted
Pro sellers must use Vinted's integrated payment and shipping when buyers are not Pro users, and buyers check out with "Buy now" and a Vinted shipping option. You send within 5 business days using the label provided. Payouts go to a bank account in your home country, in your local currency. See Vinted postage in the UK for carriers, labels and lost parcels.
Invoices and VAT
Two Vinted documents differ here. The Pro Terms (section 14) say: "You are responsible for sending an invoice to the Buyer for the Item you sold and any shipping services resold to the Buyer within the Site." The Pro guide says there is no invoicing obligation for local B2C sales in the UK, though you can choose to issue one, and that invoices are required for supplies to another VAT-registered business. The guide also says the legal Terms prevail over anything in the guide, so the safe reading is to plan to issue an invoice for each sale and to check the position with an accountant.
On VAT, the guide says you only need to register once your taxable turnover (on Vinted and elsewhere) passes the registration threshold, and that until then sales on Vinted are not subject to VAT. It also points to HMRC's VAT margin scheme for second-hand goods.
What Pro sellers cannot sell
Vinted Pro is for second-hand goods. The help article on what Pro sellers can sell lists what is not allowed:
- Items you made yourself.
- Customisation or made-to-order items.
- Cosmetics, beauty products or devices.
- "a large number of brand-new items, including items with tags".
- Items purchased in bulk for resale, or low-value items sold via dropshipping.
The commercial selling article adds the rule that applies to everybody: "You can't sell new items bought specifically to resell. This includes stock from wholesalers, bulk orders, or items bought from retail stores to resell for a profit. This rule applies to everyone, including Vinted Pro sellers." So can you sell new items on Vinted Pro? Not if you bought them to resell. Services, rentals and items you do not currently own are also out, and the Pro Terms say you may only offer an item you have in stock.
The Pro page lists the categories open to Pro sellers: clothing, footwear and accessories for women, men and children; children's toys, furniture and childcare equipment; tech accessories such as headphones, smart watches and phone cases; homeware; entertainment goods (books, video game consoles and games, board games and puzzles, music and video items); and pet care items. The Pro section of the Catalogue Rules lists more, including electronics, hobbies and collectables, sports equipment and furniture, so read both before you plan stock.
Vinted Pro benefits: is it worth it?
It is not really optional if you buy items to resell, so "worth it" is mainly whether you want to resell on Vinted under its rules. From Vinted's own pages:
Benefits. A route to sell on Vinted without breaking the commercial selling rule, no listing or seller fees, a "Pro" tag that identifies you as a business, standard terms of sale already written for you, and what Vinted's Pro page calls "cheap, convenient shipping options".
Costs besides money. The 14-day wait to be paid, a return window you cannot negotiate down, a duty to accept returns, no bundle discounts, public business details (unless you are a sole trader and opt out), invoices and tax records, and second-hand items in stock only.
If your turnover is small and occasional, the admin is the real price. If it is regular and meant to make money, the rule already answers the question. Track your numbers either way: HMRC and Vinted covers what Vinted reports and when tax applies.
Tax: what Pro means for HMRC and VAT
General information, not tax advice. Becoming a Pro seller and registering with HMRC are two separate steps with two separate tests. Vinted's test is whether you sell to make a profit. HMRC's guidance says you are "probably trading" if you sell goods you have bought intending to sell for a profit, and its example of regularly buying from car boot sales and charity shops to resell online describes someone who may need to tell HMRC about that income.
On the numbers, gov.uk says you can start trading without registering, but you must register for Self Assessment as a sole trader if you earn more than £1,000 in a tax year (6 April to 5 April). The trading allowance is £1,000 of gross income a year in 2026-27. The Budget of 28 October 2026 announced an increase to £3,000 from the 2027-28 tax year, which still needs legislation. VAT registration is required when taxable turnover over the last 12 months goes over £90,000. The Pro Terms also require Pro sellers to register their professional activity with the relevant authorities.
Separately, Vinted says it contacts sellers to complete a seller report for HMRC at 30 sales or more, or over €2,000 (about £1,700), in a calendar year. The details are in our guide to Vinted and HMRC.
What happens if you break the Pro rules
Vinted's Pro Terms allow corrective actions: a warning, removal of an item, hiding content, blocking a feature, or blocking the account temporarily or permanently. If a Pro account is blocked, you can only contact customer support, your items are removed from the catalogue, and you can complete pending transactions and payouts. In some cases (for example security or fraud concerns raised by the wallet provider), pending transactions can be cancelled, payouts restricted, and you may be stopped from creating a new Pro account. Vinted says it will give its reasons and that you can appeal. The Pro Terms also ban external software tools such as bots or scraping programs unless Vinted allows them, and deleting and re-listing the same item repeatedly or items in bulk.
Keep the books for your Pro account
Every item has a buying cost, a sale price, postage, packaging and fees, and there is a 14-day gap between a sale and your money. FAQ
Conclusion
Vinted Pro is free, open to sole traders, charities and UK companies, and required if you sell on Vinted to make a profit. The trade-offs are practical: a 14-day wait for your money, a 14-day return right for buyers, public business details, and invoices and tax records to keep. Sell second-hand items only, follow the Catalogue Rules, and read the live Vinted pages before you register.
