Vinted fees for UK sellers: £0 selling fee, buyer-paid Vinted fee, postage, Bump and Showcase costs

Vinted charges UK sellers nothing to list or to sell. There is no listing fee and no selling commission, so when an order completes, the full item price lands in your Vinted Balance. The money Vinted earns comes from the buyer, who pays a Vinted fee at checkout (the old Buyer Protection fee), which Vinted says is "usually 3% to 8% + £0.3 to £0.8" and includes VAT, plus postage. The only costs a seller can choose to pay are optional boosts such as a Bump or Showcase.

That is the headline. What changes your real profit sits underneath it: what the buyer-paid fee looks like on a £10, £25 or £100 item, what is not published, who pays for postage and verification, how payouts work, whether Vinted Pro costs anything, and how Vinted compares with eBay and Depop on the same £25 sale. Every figure below comes from Vinted UK's own price list and help pages, or from the official eBay UK and Depop pages.

Vinteer is not affiliated with Vinted

This guide summarises Vinted UK's public pages as read on 7 November 2026. The price list says "Last updated: 08.10.2026" and the Terms and Conditions say "New version applicable from 08-10-2026". Vinted can change fees and rules at any time, so check your order summary at checkout before you rely on a number.

Is it free to sell on Vinted in the UK?

Yes, for the seller. Vinted's help page "Is using Vinted free?" says: "There are no fees for uploading your items or selling them on Vinted. Once your sale is completed, you'll receive a full payment for your item to your Vinted Balance." The same page adds that there are no subscriptions or recurring payments on the platform.

In practice, a standard UK seller pays none of these:

  • No listing fee. List as many items as you like.
  • No selling commission or final value fee. Nothing is taken from the item price.
  • No postage cost. The buyer pays postage, and you use the prepaid label Vinted generates (see Vinted postage).
  • No withdrawal fee listed. Vinted's withdrawal page sets a minimum of £0.10 and a delay of up to 5 business days, and lists no charge for moving money to your bank account.

So the answer to "does Vinted take a percentage?" is no, not from the seller. The percentage you may have seen is on the buyer's side, in the Vinted fee.

What is the Vinted fee, and how much is it?

The Vinted fee is the new name for what used to be called the Buyer Protection fee. Vinted's help page still uses the old name in one place, but the price list, the Terms and Conditions and the dedicated help page all say "Vinted fee". Vinted describes it as "a mandatory platform fee paid at checkout when you place an order through Vinted using the 'Buy now' button".

On the amount, Vinted publishes a range and nothing more precise. The price list says:

"The fee typically includes a percentage of the item's or bundle's price, as well as a fixed fee - usually 3% to 8% + £0.3 to £0.8."

It also says the calculation "varies based on several factors, such as: item characteristics, order value, order type (a single item versus a bundle)", and that "all prices are inclusive Value-Added Tax (VAT)". There is no published formula, no table of bands, no worked example and no stated cap. We looked for all of them on the price list, the Terms and Conditions and the help centre on 7 November 2026 and found none, so be wary of any site that gives you an exact formula for the UK fee.

What does the Vinted fee look like on a real item?

You cannot calculate the exact fee from Vinted's published information, but you can get a rough idea of its size. The table below is our own arithmetic, not a Vinted formula or a Vinted table: it applies the lowest figures of the published range together, and the highest figures together, to the item price. Because Vinted describes the range as "usually", a particular order can fall outside it. The real amount is always the one Vinted shows for your order.

Item price£10.00
Low end of the range (3% + £0.30)£0.60
High end of the range (8% + £0.80)£1.60
Item price£25.00
Low end of the range (3% + £0.30)£1.05
High end of the range (8% + £0.80)£2.80
Item price£50.00
Low end of the range (3% + £0.30)£1.80
High end of the range (8% + £0.80)£4.80
Item price£100.00
Low end of the range (3% + £0.30)£3.30
High end of the range (8% + £0.80)£8.80

Vinted does not say how the percentage and the fixed part combine for a given item, so treat the two columns as an indication of scale and not as a prediction for your order. For a quick check on your own prices, use the Vinted fee calculator.

Who sees the fee, and why it matters to a seller

The fee is not hidden at the last step. Vinted says it is "included in the price breakdown for each listing and reflected in the total price for the item or bundle", and the total Vinted fee, VAT included, is added to the order's final price in the order summary. You still receive the price you set, but your buyer sees a higher total than your asking price. On a £25 listing, the arithmetic above gives about £1 to £3 extra for the buyer before postage, which is worth remembering when you price against a similar listing.

What does the buyer get for the fee?

Vinted lists what the fee helps cover: connecting buyers and sellers, a safer buying and selling experience, tools to help members manage transactions, support, and "applying our refund policy if the item is lost, damaged, or significantly not as described, when bought from a non-professional seller". Purchases from Pro sellers sit under Vinted's Pro Refund Policy instead, which is built around the buyer's 14-day right of withdrawal.

Is the Vinted fee refunded?

Often, yes. The Terms and Conditions table says a refund on a single item includes a full refund of the item price, the Vinted fee and the prepaid shipping fee, with return shipping deducted if the buyer pays for the return. For one item from a bundle, the fee is recalculated for the items the buyer keeps and the difference is refunded. If you offer a partial refund, Vinted says it can include "part of the item price and the Vinted fee". For a seller, the point is simple: the fee is paid by the buyer on top of the price you set, and if a refund happens the buyer gets it back with the price.

Who pays postage on Vinted UK?

The buyer. Vinted's help page says: "Buyers cover the shipping costs. The shipping cost is shown at checkout, and it's automatically added to the total payment for the order when buying via the 'Buy now' button." Rates "depend on the parcel's size and both the buyer's and the seller's locations".

Vinted UK's help pages do not publish a price table in pounds, so we do not quote postage prices here (they do publish maximum dimensions and weights per carrier on their parcel size limits page). Your listing screen shows the options for your parcel, and the buyer sees the total at checkout. Carriers, labels, deadlines and lost parcels are covered in our guide to Vinted postage.

How much does a Vinted Bump cost?

Vinted does not publish a price. Its help page says the cost "depends on the item's price" and "the Bump duration - 3 or 7 days", and that "the applicable fee will be shown to you at the time of payment". A Bump puts one item higher in newsfeeds and search results for 3 or 7 consecutive days, or until it sells. Two details from the help page affect your money:

  • You can lower the item price while a Bump is active but you cannot raise it.
  • If you lower the price, the cost of the Bump stays the same and there is no refund for the difference.

You may see fixed Bump prices quoted on third-party sites. Vinted's own price list says only that the fee varies with duration and item price, and VAT is included in the price at checkout, so treat any fixed pound figure as unverified until your own checkout shows it.

How much is Showcase?

Showcase is the new name for Wardrobe Spotlight. It lasts 7 consecutive days, needs at least 5 listed items, and highlights up to 15 of your listings to members likely to buy them. Vinted says: "You'll see the price at the checkout. The exact amount depends on how many listings you have and their value." No price in pounds is published.

Item Verification and Electronics Verification

Both services are optional and paid by the buyer, so they cost a seller nothing in fees, but they change what you have to do:

  • Item Verification is for selected designer listings priced at £85 or more, from eligible brands, in clothing, bags, accessories, jewellery and shoes. It costs £10 per item, which includes shipping from the seller to the verification hub. Sellers cannot remove the option from an eligible listing, you get a prepaid label addressed to the hub, and you have 5 business days to ship. Vinted says delivery usually takes up to 10 business days from when you ship. Vinted also says Pro sellers cannot use Item Verification when buying with their Pro account.
  • Electronics Verification covers eligible mobile phones, tablets and games consoles. It is £5 per item, or included at no extra cost for some eligible orders, and only works with an integrated shipping option.

When do you get paid, and does Vinted charge for payouts?

Money from a sale sits in your "Pending balance" until the order completes. An order completes when the buyer presses "Everything is OK", or 2 days after the buyer gets the order without confirming or reporting an issue. After that, Vinted says you "will receive your payment within 2 days", moving from Pending to Available balance. From there you can withdraw to a UK bank account using an account number and sort code, in pounds only, and Vinted says it can take up to 5 business days for the funds to arrive.

Vinted's withdrawal page lists no withdrawal charge, and the Vinted Pro Terms describe transferring funds to your bank account "without any transfer fees". You cannot top up your Vinted Balance; it only stores earnings from sold items, and it is used automatically on your next Vinted purchase unless you withdraw it first.

Does Vinted Pro cost anything?

No. Vinted's Pro page says "Is Vinted Pro free? Yes, Vinted Pro is entirely free", and the buyer-paid Vinted fee works the same way on Pro orders. Bumps and Showcase use the same price list. What changes is the rules and the timing:

  • Payment is slower. A Pro seller's order completes automatically 14 days after it is received unless the buyer raises an issue, and it cannot complete earlier because of the buyer's right of withdrawal.
  • Buyers get 14 days. Buying from a Pro seller gives the buyer the legal right of withdrawal, with 14 days to decide on a return and another 14 days to send it back.
  • Pro registration needs business details. Sole traders, charities and companies can register, and Vinted asks for items such as a National Insurance number for a sole trader.

Vinted's Commercial selling page is clear on who needs it: "If you have a legal status as a business, act on behalf of one, or sell on Vinted to make a profit, you need to sign up as a Pro seller." Standard accounts "can't be used to sell items professionally", which includes buying or sourcing items and reselling them at a profit, and new items bought specifically to resell are not allowed for anyone, Pro sellers included. Our guides to Vinted Pro in the UK and the Vinted reseller rules go through the details.

Worked example: what a £25 sale looks like

Take a second-hand jacket you list for £25.

  • You, as the seller: the buyer pays £25, a Vinted fee, and postage. You receive £25.00 in your Vinted Balance once the order completes, and you ship with the prepaid label at no cost to you.
  • The buyer: pays £25 plus the Vinted fee (about £1.05 to £2.80 if the low and high ends of the published range applied) plus postage, which Vinted shows at checkout and does not publish as a table.

If you are a Pro seller who buys second-hand stock on Vinted, the cost side matters too. Say you buy an item listed at £18. The Vinted fee on that purchase, with the same arithmetic on the published range, is about £0.84 to £2.24, so your cost is about £18.84 to £20.24 before postage on the purchase. Selling it on at £35 leaves a gross margin of about £14.76 to £16.16 before packaging, your time and other costs. The point is to put the fee you pay on a purchase into your cost of goods and not to forget it, since it is part of what you actually paid. Do the sums on your own numbers with the Vinted fee calculator.

Vinted vs eBay vs Depop: fees on the same £25 sale

All three are cheap for a UK private seller, but the cost lands in different places. These figures are from each platform's official UK fee pages, read on 7 November 2026.

Selling fee
Vinted UK£0
eBay UK (private seller)£0 final value fee
Depop UK£0
Seller payment fee
Vinted UKNone listed
eBay UK (private seller)None listed
Depop UK2.9% + £0.30 (about £1.03 on a £25 item before shipping)
Fee on the buyer
Vinted UKVinted fee, about £1.05 to £2.80 on £25 (our arithmetic on the published range)
eBay UK (private seller)Buyer Protection fee, £1.70 on £25
Depop UKMarketplace fee, up to 5% + up to £1 (up to £2.25 on £25)
Seller receives on a £25 item
Vinted UK£25.00
eBay UK (private seller)£25.00
Depop UKabout £23.97 before shipping and tax

A few notes on each column:

  • eBay UK: eBay says UK-based private sellers pay no final value fee or regulatory operating fee, except for motors. You get 300 free listings a month, then pay 35p per extra listing, and optional upgrades cost extra. If you post outside the UK without eBay International Shipping, an international fee of 3% applies. The Buyer Protection fee, paid by the buyer on purchases from UK private sellers, is a flat £0.10 per item, plus 7% of the price up to £20, plus 4% of the portion from £20 to £300, plus 2% of the portion from £300 to £4,000, which makes £1.70 on a £25 item (eBay says it is already included in the price buyers see on the listing). eBay UK announced the removal of private seller fees on 30 September 2024. Business sellers pay final value fees that vary by category, so check eBay's current business fees page or the eBay fee calculator.
  • Depop UK: Depop says no selling fees are charged to UK sellers. Payments through Depop Payments (via Stripe) carry 2.9% + £0.30, charged on the item price plus shipping and taxes, so the real figure is a little higher than the £1.03 above once shipping is included. The buyer pays a Marketplace fee of up to 5% plus a fixed amount of up to £1, with the exact figure shown at checkout.

Both comparisons leave out postage, which differs between platforms and is not part of any of these fees.

Fees, records and tax

Because Vinted takes nothing from a seller's sale price, your income figure is the amount you receive. If you are a Vinted Pro seller who buys and resells, keep the receipt for each purchase, including the Vinted fee and postage you paid, so your profit per item is real. For how HMRC's reporting rules for platforms work, see our guide to Vinted and HMRC.

General information, not tax advice

Vinted's Terms and Conditions state that it is not responsible for tax liabilities or reporting obligations that may apply to you because of your activities on the site. If you are unsure how your sales are treated, check gov.uk or speak to an accountant.

FAQ

Conclusion

On Vinted UK, selling costs you nothing by default: no listing fee, no commission, and the buyer pays postage. The buyer carries the Vinted fee, which Vinted publishes only as a range of usually 3% to 8% + £0.3 to £0.8 including VAT, so the exact amount is the one Vinted shows in the price breakdown and in your order summary at checkout. Your own decisions add the rest: a Bump or Showcase if you want more visibility, and a Pro account if you sell to make a profit. eBay UK private sellers and Depop sellers also pay no selling fee, but Depop takes a payment processing fee from the seller, and on eBay the buyer pays a fee of its own.
